Spousal Work Permits
If your postdoc appointment is for six months or longer, your spouse (husband, wife or common-law partner) may qualify for an "open" work permit.
Because postdocs are considered skilled workers (Skill Level A-4122 on the National Occupational Classification codes), your spouse/partner is eligible to apply for a work permit without the need for job confirmation from Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC)
Your spouse may apply for a work permit
1. at the port of entry (the first place you arrive in Canada, such as the Edmonton International Airport); a copy of your work permit is required to show an Examining Officer at the port of entry; or
2. if already in Canada, by completing and submitteing an Application to Change Conditions, Extend My Stay, or Remain in Canada to the Case Processing Centre (CPC) in Vegreville, Alberta; a copy of your work permit is required
There will be a processing fee for the work permit, currently $150 (CAD).
Your spouse/partner's permit will be valid for the same period as your authorization to train in Canada.
If you are common law, you may need to complete a Statutory Declaration of Common-law Union form (see below) in order to obtain your spouse's "open" work permit.
政府规定,国际学生和博士后的配偶,拿探亲签证来加拿大的,都可以直接转成工作签证,签证的时间跟你先生或者妻子的工作签证时间一样长,而且好像没什么区别,可以先有工作签证,再去找工作。 |
